Released in a time when the MCU was really taking off it was critically panned for having too many villains, subplots and a weird score that has the singer basically giving Electro's inner monologue. Garfields Webhead had a tough time from the beginning and his version of Peter Parker was released just 5 years after the Tobey Maguire incarnation before he himself was replaced by Hollands Spider-man less than 4 years after. Because of this The Amazing Spider-man franchise is often overlooked but it has picked up a strong following online who absolutely love the film. When you watch it you can kinda see why too and though it has it's low points there's also a scene in it that I think is absolutely perfect. No not that one...not the one with Jamie Foxx making himself a birthday cake from Spider-man. No what I am talking about is Gwen Stacy's death. Ever since it was announced that Emma Stone would be playing the role in the Amazing Spider-man we knew that the character was truly doomed and this franchise very much built up to that moment coming to fruition. For many years Gwen's death was viewed as a defining moment for the character and though she has been brought back to life in recent times, for many decades it was said that she should be a character that remained dead like Uncle Ben and The Waynes. Gwen Stacy's death very much represents a number of things in Peter's life and to me The Amazing Spider-man 2 absolutely nailed all these aspects. Peter Parker is someone who was plucked out of Queens and given incredible abilities that transformed him into a superhuman. Initially he wanted to use these gifts for personal gain but after they inadvertently led to the death of his Uncle Ben he decided that he would instead use them to help others. Peter donned his Spider-man costume to keep those around him safe and he tried to have a normal life. Being a vigilante caused several run ins with the law including Captain Stacy. Stacy was killed in the comics and the source material had him saying in his final breath that he should take care of Gwen. ► Artist Attribution Music By: "KaizanBlu" Track Name: "Take Me With You" • Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/kaizanblu/ • SoundCloud - https://soundcloud.com/kaizanblu/ • Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/kaizanblumusic/ • TikTok - @kaizanblu http://vm.tiktok.com/aCYwfx/ • YouTube - /channel/UCUtx ... • DOWNLOAD @ https://www.chilloutmedia.com/kaizanblu Licence: Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-SA 4.0) - Full licence here: https://creativecommons.org/licenses/ ... • Music released by: Chill Out Records @ https://goo.gl/fh3rEJ & https://www.LoFi-HipHop.com

@sohamroy84423 years ago Some of the scenes I love from Andrew's run:
    1) He saves the boy in the burning car.
    2) he tries to talk it out with electro, actually remembers his name. When electro flips out, he saves the people brilliantly in an amazing slow mo
    3) when the cranes line up to help him reach oscorp with the soundtrack coming in
    4) fight scenes and swinging scenes in tasm 2 is the amazing. Visual effects + cinematography is top notch.
    5) Andrew's Spiderman is perfect imo, his Peter may not be perfect but his Spidey is. His quips, energy and resilience. Not a scene but just a point.
    6) friendship scenes between him and Harry. Harry yelling to Electro that he needs him.
    7) Gwen Stacey >>>>>> MJ
    8) Sewer fight scene. It shows him using his brain.

@ashleysmith54273 years ago Everything about this scene was perfect, the cinematography, the score even the webbing forming in a hand shape to grab her. Definitely one of the best scenes in the franchise! Great Video! 343

@MrRPBishop3 years ago I remember a unified gasp from everyone in the movie theater, then the pure silence of the audience. While I felt that the actors were poorly directed, with Fox's acting becoming better and DeHaan acting becoming worse as they descended into madness, Gween and Parker's love was so apparent that it felt genuine. I often sad, cinematically, her death was the best thing that ever happened in any movie. ... 100

@Chopiestchop3 years ago Watched TASM 2 the other night and was looking forward to this scene so much. The chemistry between the two was so strong in these movies that made this scene so weighted and impactful. Garfield’s performance as Spider-Man was so overlooked because us as fans were so nostalgic to Tobey and rightfully so. Garfield delivers though as the best Web Slinger of them all. ... 149

@ReelRejects3 years ago Yup you nailed this video. Amazing Spider-Man 2 is by far my least favorite spidy film, however, the sequence of Gwens death was perfectly nailed. I remember moments prior to that scene, watching Dane Dehaan show up, not enjoying it, but approaching the sequence was gripping, I did find myself wondering too if she’d actually live, and the snap moment - everyone in crowd audibly gasped and their chemistry being the best part of that franchise made it truly heartbreaking. Fantastic breakdown man! ... 389

@jadedplacebo243 years ago The Amazing Spider-Man series, even with it's flaws in the villains (cuz yes they could've been better) still hits me as the best Spiderman thus far. This Parker felt so much more relatable, realistic and honestly grounded. This is also the Parker I could see going dark as we've seen in the comics. I truly wish we got that 3rd movie.
Also this scene truly broke me and just ripped my heart out. The fact that the movies ended on this note hurts even more

@CavalierNSN3 years ago We all know it's a movie, but the impact of this scene really messed me up. I thought that I might be getting too much into "comic book stuff" but this scene had something rare in these types of movies; true loss. It punched me right in the gut. At that time, there was no reset, she was scared to death and those precious seconds felt like hours until that abrupt stop. We were all Spiderman in that moment. ... 26

@manuelrose29963 years ago I feel this one of the most heartbreaking and poetic scenes in any comic book movie. Everything from the visual and symbolic imagery, Hans Zimmers heartwrenching score, and Andrew Garfields acting, is beautiful and perfect.

@sarthaksinghchauhan48453 years ago I literally re-watched the amazing Spider-Man 2 last night, and yeah completely agree with everything you had to say here, I think other than Iron Man, I've never cried for a character death as much as Gwen. Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield were so good together, and I hope the MCU doesn't make this Spiderman just another funny spiderman but explore the depth of this character. I don't know if we'll have the time for that or not, but I hope they do him justice ... 15

@28098610w3 years ago What I love about The Death Of Gwen Stacey is that it's a complete swerve from the previous battle. Gwen and Spiderman have just stopped Electro, and it seems like Gwen and Peter will walk out of the film happy, only for the Goblin to show up and undo all of it . Harry looks at a cross between demented and genuinely hurt when he pieces together Spiderman is Peter Parker just by seeing his interaction with Gwen Stacey. That, coupled with his horror movies like transformation, perfectly shows the change of tone in the film . It gives you that feeling of dread and that this isn't going to end well. There's certain things that make it even more atmospheric such as when Goblin captures Gwen on the glider Spiderman tries to web the glider only to be too slow to catch it and the fact that Gwen is in the air higher than he can reach her and there's nothing to swing off of . When Goblin drops, her Spiderman only narrowly catches her, making sure he takes the brunt of the fall. Crisis averted, right? Then Goblin throws a pumpkin bomb blowing up the platform Spiderman and Gwen are on. Spiderman's trying his best to get Goblin away from Gwen but it's no use, and when he's finally able to get Goblin off the glider it crashes into the exact spot that he'd left Gwen on. He then tries to pull Gwen up to safety only for the Goblin to stop him, and the webline Peter used to pull Gwen up snaps . He tries to save Gwen by shooting a webline to stop her from falling , but a combination of the timing and grabbing a rail at the last moment cause a whiplash effect which causes Gwens head to jilt back and hit full impact killing her instantly . In that one instant Spiderman's life is turned completely upside down , he's broken his promise and as a direct result the women he loves is dead, killed by his best friend after the latter felt betrayed by him. I also like how they used the clock tower in the nighttime . It gives it a really creepy feel, almost like death's made a special appearance just for Gwen. ... 4

@SimpleGeekReviews3 years ago Im fairly sure, just based on the scenes in the trailer, that No Way Home is going to recreate the Gwen Stacy death scene, even with subtle musical cues. Just on how they have MJ falling and Peter reaching out to her. But I'm sure Garfield-Spiderman will save her.
I actually like the Amazing Spiderman films. I think Garfield did a better job of showing the scientist part of Peter from the comics, and he definitely had a better grasp of talking smack than either Tobey or Tom. And the chemistry between Gwen and Peter work so well because of Emma and Andrew. But the flaws of the writing and corporate input ruin the films.

@kvngbo15862 years ago The thing that gets me the most about Gwen’s death is not when her neck snaps, it’s not when andrews holding her trying to wake her up. It’s when he shoots his web and it resembles a hand. It just adds a sense of desperation, urgency, and helplessness and for a few seconds when I first watched it not only was the scene in slow motion but I was so invested into that one specific scene that it also felt like time slowed down around me. Idk man every time I see this scene I get chills. This has to be the second most powerful scene out of any Spider-Man movie, 1st is Andrew actually saving mj, and the 3rd is the death of harry followed by the talk with sandman ...
  • @
@nofacedgoldfish62163 years ago Thank you for shedding light on this movie, and this scene. I feel like the TASM films get a bad reputation because of it having flaws, but the people who point them out don't want to acknowledge the flaws from the other two Peters.
My issue is that the death itself I loved in the comics, and I like the recreation in TASM2 except that she was caught too low. There was a lesson on the way she died in the comics, where Peter since then made sure to grab the people falling then catch himself. With the movie, it wasn't his actions that killed her, the ground did, and so there was no lesson to learn.
I love the TASM movies. I see that they have flaws, but so did the other two Spider-Men. They focused on different parts of what make both Peter and Spider-Man important. Tobey's Spider-Man did a better job at focusing on trying to maintain friendships and a job while also doing his heroics. It focused a lot more on Peter's burden left by the death of his uncle and his responsibility. Andrew's, like the comics, tries to take care of Gwen after her father dies, and tries to maintain both his heroics and loved ones, which inevitably implode on him, and caused the one he loved to die anyway. Tom's Spider-Man is very much like the early comics of Spider-Man. He pushed himself to be a hero and risk his time in youth despite there being plenty of other heroes in the world. He didn't need to carry the world on his shoulders, but he chose to anyway. The only non-Spider-Man characters seen in the previous movies is 2004 Punisher in Spider-Man 2, as well as Doctor Strange name drop(before the MCU made it a possibility that JJJ was referring to MCU Strange). Uncle Ben's death wasn't as important in comics until Peter was in college, and he was inspired by a speech created by Human Torch in his high school years. Uncle Ben never uttered the words "With great power comes great responsibility" but those words were still the lesson Peter learned from his death. Before Peter was in College, Ben was only mentioned 3 times. Ben became an importance the moment when Peter was being crushed by wreckage and nearly drowned, and him being reminded of Ben motivated him to keep fighting, and he would be a major role since. So it makes sense for Peter's main motivation being another hero.

@wmoreland063 years ago Just as this scene was super devastating along with Peter Morning through the seasons... his reemergence scene at the end was just as powerful and reminds the viewer of Spider-man's true super powers his Abilty to Endure through his Failures, to keep on Fighting and Inspiring Hope. In that scene Webb managed to make the entire audience feel like that little boy he saved and see what a true Hero means to the World. ...
