Day 23/30 of our Spring Cleaning Spree! Welcome to Carpet Cleaning Day! Here are some quick tips so you can clean your carpets just like a pro. Our first step is to always vacuum the room. This will bring up a lot of dirt and hair that has imbedded itself deep into the bottom of the carpet fibers. It will also keeps your carpet cleaning machine in better shape, because it won’t get clogged with excessive debris. Now, a lot of carpet cleaning machine manuals will tell you to add the cleaning solution straight into the machine. I prefer to mix my solution in a spray bottle or pump of sprayer. This way I can let the cleaner sit on the carpet, allowing it time to loosen up dirt. This is especially important if you have pets and are using an enzyme cleaner, because the enzymes need a bit of time to break down the pet waste in order for it to fully flush out. I also only put warm water into my Hoover Smartwash Pet machine’s tank because I want to make sure I’m able to rinse all of the cleaner completely out of my carpet. Soap residue is very sticky, so it will start to attract even more dirt causing more staining over time. By only putting hot water in my machine, I can visually see when the soap is completely flush out of the carpet because the rinse water will be clear.
