Diving beneath the surface of breast cancer cells

Published 4 Apr 2023

On the surface of breast cancer cells, not much seems to happen. But, if we go deeper into the cell layer and look at the bottom of the cells, a dynamic world becomes visible. By using dyes to colour the cells (blue and red in this instance), we can separate out certain structures within the cell cytoskeleton and start to visualise what's going on in far more detail. What we see here are some interesting movements and changes within a breast cancer cell - something we are currently investigating to learn more about how these cells change and grow. By understanding more, we aim to develop new treatments for breast cancer and perhaps even find a cure.
