@raybools90964 years agoSHOWER, so many comments, I'm not sure if this has been mentioned or if it will be seen: the minivan gives you a small private room by lifting the rear hatch and attaching a tarp to the hatch with magnets. We use this as a changeroom at the beach and for emergency pit stops on the side of the road. Should also work as a shower stall. Put a rubber car floor mat on the ground. Thanks for the amusing videos. ...34

@irisqueen43764 years agoFirst video in my YT thread this morning! 😊 Great video and as always loved the goats (2 this time, yes)!! That cabin looks scary as hell but I'm sure you'll be ok😌. Have you ever thought about getting a small 12v fridge that you can plug into cigarette lighter in the front cabin of the rig? It doesn't HAVE to be IN the kitchen and then you can find another use for that space. Just a thought. Have a great day, and as always stay safe while oot and aboot. 😊 Btw.. @
@PixelShade4 years agoAnother awesome video, I loved your live stream as well, (the chat went kind of crazy though)! :D regarding the cooler. I was thinking that If you get a really well isolated thermo electric cooling box, wrap it in reflectics. Buy frozen stuff, like meat, peas, vegetables etc and a large pack of ice (or if you can, ask a store if you can freeze two large bottles of water and pick them up later), fill up the cooler as best you can with frozen goods. I think this will last days. Once things are starting to defrost plug the cooler in while driving (use full blast AC to help it out keeping things cool), keep the cooler outdoors in the shade during hikes (or even in cold streams), perhaps even hook it up to your leisure battery in the end, since the car can get solar at the same time, It feels like that strategy would last you at least a week outdoors without going to town. With the car getting as hot as it gets, it is really inefficient to cool stuff inside the van. Even with a compressor. sure, It's a bit finicky carrying things outside, setting it up, but I guess that is the compromise of van life during the summer months. :) Another option is to go on vegan diet during summer months. Food poisoning isn't really a thing for us. :) and you can get a lot of good canned and dried goods that doesn't need a refrigerator/freezer. ...9

@scottandlora40294 years agoFWIW Forestry, Mrs. and I use a hand pump garden sprayer with a kitchen sink sprayer adapted to the hose for showering. We started with a 2gallon unit 5 yrs ago. We've downsized to a 1 gallon now. The sun heats it nicely and when it doesn't, a kettle of hot water makes it just right. A bird bath is plenty good for daily cleaning but once a week or so a real shower is nice. So for the cost of 2 truck stop showers you could make your own setup. Way simpler than the roof mounted pvc deals. I painted the first one black but haven't painted the current one. It doesn't make much difference in n heat gain. YMMV. Brilliant idea making your own fridge. Can't wait to see it. ...
@
@olaaf_eu94 years agoI just wish nothing but the best for this man. Love his videos. Forest should do simple vlogs - at least for a week or two, just to have a glimpse on what is it like to live in a van from breakfast to dinner. No need for anything fancy. ...

@randygeyer47304 years agoHave you looked at the Alpicool C15? I’ve had mine for 2 years and it still works great. Pretty small (16 qrt) and works as a frig or a freezer. Sometimes you have to reset if it freezes up but that’s rare. $179.00! For a shower I have a 5 gallon water container and I just attach a 12 volt portable shower. Many brands that are also inexpensive. ...4
