Achar / Achaar is a South Asian Pickle food, native to the Indian Subcontinent. Traditionally prepared from a variety of fruits or vegetables along with Indian spices and is preserved in vinegar, edible oils or brine. As generations passed, Achaar too evolved replacing fruits and vegetables with meat. I was not used to Meat pickles until I tasted fish pickle / Meen achaar for the first time at my native and I still remember the moments, where my Aunt bought the Jar filled with fish pickle preserved in vinegar. As she opened the lid, the entire room started to get filled with its aroma and it still makes me drool. Fish pickle is my family’s favorite and the bottled pickle won’t survive even a week whenever it is made in our home, as the foodies in our home will be in attack mode. In this recipe, I have used Tuna fish to prepare the fish pickle, but it can be substituted with other fleshy fishes as well. Try this mouthwatering, finger licking exotic fish pickle and throw a surprise to you loved one.
