This giant well planned city complexwith controlled waterways was thriving at the same times europe was id="hidden7" still struggling to get itself out of the dark ages. When london had less than 20, 0 people living in it, angkor had 700, 0 or more. At one point it was the largest city in the world.
and they way it was built with moving pre-cut blocks and then carving them once in place was a simple yet ingenious move. The building of angkor is on par or greater than that of rome. ...Expand 1676

Massive buildings, temples, canals, farmlands all give angkor an unmatched place id="hidden15" in history. It' s really amazing how they chisselled such masterpieces on stone. All the monuments here are much beautiful than those in egypt or the western world. But i think tourism could be slowly destroying what is left, the spirit of cambodians to preserve their culture and history is really appreciable.
