This giant well planned city complexwith controlled waterways was thriving at the same times europe was id="hidden7" still struggling to get itself out of the dark ages. When london had less than 20, 0 people living in it, angkor had 700, 0 or more. At one point it was the largest city in the world. and they way it was built with moving pre-cut blocks and then carving them once in place was a simple yet ingenious move. Massive buildings, temples, canals, farmlands all give angkor an unmatched place id="hidden15" in history. It' s really amazing how they chisselled such masterpieces on stone. All the monuments here are much beautiful than those in egypt or the western world. But i think tourism could be slowly destroying what is left, the spirit of cambodians to preserve their culture and history is really appreciable.
