I have seen and photographed with domestic and foreign celebrities but the one I will never forget was Nureyev and the mascot of Mykonos, the pelican named Petros. He is now in Pelican Paradise. This island has always had a glow. Now I prefer quieter islands. ... 5

@roygoad28702 years ago I was there in the 1970’s, it was a cool hippie vibe back then, with a lot less people, loved Paradise beach 🏖. There’s also a super paradise beach for gay people back then too. I was in my late teens and just slept in a campsite next to the beach for next to nothing! I also loved Ios an even more laid back island! ... 2

I am showing my age, but paradise beach seems a bit hectic for me. I wanna chill when on the beach. But the bar area was great. Love that.

@cindyritmeester2 years ago For next year my suggestion is Corfu, Kefalonia, Skopelos and Ikaria. All beautiful and quite relaxed if you do not go in high season. Ikaria is also part of the blue zone where many people live to be 100 due to healthy diet and natural lifestyle. xx ... 1

@elenidrogaris66452 years ago Mykonos is called "the island of the winds" for good reason. Hardly anything grows on the island because it gets windswept! The cyclades have little vegetation because of the strong winds they're exposed to in general, but Dilos and Mykonos get the worst of it. You should visit Sifnos, one of the most picturesque of the cycladic islands and their own local cuisine, some of the best food on the cyclades! ... 1

@krystalhead2 years ago My fav island is Naxos too for the Cyclades you need to check out the Ionian islands Kefalonia cheap breathing taking and Paxos is incredible antipaxoi beaches like the Maldives/Caribbean warm waters too I was disappointed in Mykonos myself I went 3 years ago not as expensive but it’s changed and overhyped from tourism and it’s not worth the price but hey it’s Mykonos ... 13

@kostapapa19892 years ago You should visit the nearby island of DELOS the birthplace of Artemis and Apollo. Take the boat from Mykonos. It is worth it ! Mykonos on the other hand is so overrated. I am greek and I have visited it 3 times. I am never going back. There are so many more beautiful islands in Greece, less crowded, less noisy, and cheaper. My favorite is SAMOTHRACE ( northeastern Aegean sea ). IOS is another touristy location but not as crazy as Mykonos. ... 1

I am not a party person but the few times if been in mykonos i enjoyed it, its not like they drag u and force u to pay 400€ for a sunbed or party like crazy. U can have quiet and chilled holidays there but yes, accomodation prices in peak season are prohibitive for me ... 3

@nm5612one week ago Myconos became famous as it had the first nudist beach in Greece back in the 60's, from there a lot of trendy Gay's started making hte island for chic, and a lot fo designers from europe would go. It was always a lot more liberal than the other islands and has turned into what it is today. I would say Myconos has changed from a "party" island to a posh island the last 10-15 years. ...

By that time it was still quiet and natural, no beds on the beaches, though the food a bit more expensive than expected already. I was lucky to be able to stay on a brand new camping on top of the rocks above a nude beach for free (!) since it was so new and only the bathrooms and the bar were installed. - I then went to Tinos for a few days, paid a little bit for the camp ground, slept under a tree without my tent...;) and even saved money since the food was much cheaper there and there is a very impressive monastery on Tinos with loads of religious souveniers to buy! ... 2
