In this lesson, my friend Mark Kulek and I teach about smart phone etiquette and good manners. We introduce some effective English expressions that can help English language learners sound more natural. For example, what is the best way to interrupt conversations when someone calls you on a smart phone? Watch this lesson and find out which phrases you should use. If you must answer a phone call while talking with a friend, it is polite to apologize to the friend before answering the call. For example, you could say either of these expressions to your friend: 1) I'm really sorry, excuse me. 2) Please excuse me. 3) I'm so sorry. Just a moment. Mark and I also talk about which expressions to use when you return to a conversation after speaking on the phone. For example, we can say either of these expressions: 1) Where were we? 2) Sorry, go on. 3) You were saying... Additionally, we discuss ways to politely call someone on their cell phone or smart phone and ask if they can talk. For example, you can call someone and ask: 1) Is now a good time? 2) Are you free to talk? 3) Do you have a minute? Using these expressions will help determine if the person you are calling is available to talk or not. Using the expressions in this lesson will help build your vocabulary and speak more natural English. If you like this video, please click the like button and share it.
